Last night, the boy and I went on an impromptu walk, or "alk" as he referred to our excursion. This was the first time he had been allowed to wander off of the driveway without a buggy or some sort of baby transportation device. He LOVED it.
We stopped 1/2 way down the street to cheer on the neighbors who were playing catch in the front yard. Every airplane that went by was closely observed, then waved to as it flew out of sight. Cars were acknowledged with a "Go car, go!" And every bird was subject to a sly sneaking up, only to fly away at the last possible moment.
And then we saw the red minivan. We were about 1/2 way around the block when he was bound and determined that the red minivan was his, and he was riding the rest of the way home. It took some convincing, and a barking dog across the street as a distraction, but eventually we were on our way once again.
Twice he aked to be carried only to wiggle out of my arms and continue on his own. He jabbered the entire time.
His latest trick is to bring his hands up along his sides, and cross his arms while he watches what is going on. If he is pleased, he throws his hands in the air and yells "Yea!" If he is not pleased, he simply walks on.
It was a good night.
