The boy subscribes to the philosophy: If you want something done, do it yourself!
I awoke one morning to find our incredibly independent 16 month old making his own breakfast. Notice he is using a butter knife as he has been reminded (repeatedly) to stay away from the the steak knives.
(Ok. I really did help him a little bit. His step stool is not quite tall enough to reach the bowls.)
